Xyotil 40 contains Olmesartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure). By selectively inhibiting angiotensin II at its receptor sites, Xyotil helps relax blood vessels, lower peripheral resistance, and reduce blood pressure, thereby decreasing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney complications.

Antihypertensive Agent
Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB)
Xyotil 40 is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension in adults. It can be used:
As monotherapy to lower elevated blood pressure
In combination with other antihypertensive agents when monotherapy is insufficient
Starting dose: 20 mg once daily for most patients
Titration: If further blood pressure reduction is needed after 2 weeks, increase to 40 mg once daily
Maximum dose: 40 mg per day (higher doses do not provide additional benefit)
Can be taken with or without food
Pediatric use: Safety and efficacy not established
Special Considerations:
Patients with volume depletion (e.g., from diuretics) should begin therapy under close medical supervision, possibly starting at a lower dose
No dose adjustment is needed for elderly patients or those with moderate to severe renal or hepatic impairment
Directions for Use:
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew. Follow the dosing instructions provided by your physician. Duration of therapy will depend on your individual condition, age, and response to treatment.
Common (≥1%):
Dizziness (3% in patients treated with Xyotil vs. 1% with placebo)
Others (similar to placebo):
Back pain, headache, diarrhea, rhinitis, sinusitis, hyperglycemia, bronchitis, influenza-like symptoms
Cough: 0.9% incidence, similar to placebo
NSAIDs (including COX-2 inhibitors): May reduce antihypertensive effect and impair renal function; monitor renal function when co-administered
No clinically significant interactions with digoxin, warfarin, or antacids
Hypersensitivity to Olmesartan or any component of the formulation
Pregnancy (second and third trimesters) due to risk of fetal injury or death
Pregnancy: Contraindicated. Discontinue immediately if pregnancy is detected
Lactation: Olmesartan may be excreted in breast milk; use with caution
Monitor renal function in patients with renal impairment or severe heart failure
Risk of acute renal failure or oliguria in patients dependent on the renin-angiotensin system
Overdose: Symptoms may include hypotension, tachycardia, or bradycardia. Supportive cardiovascular measures should be provided
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
