Broad Spectrum Penicillins
Amoxicillin acts by inhibiting the biosynthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and bacterial death. It is stable in the presence of gastric acid and is rapidly absorbed after oral administration. Peak plasma concentrations are typically achieved within 1 to 2 hours. Amoxicillin is widely distributed throughout body tissues and fluids, ensuring effective antibacterial activity at the site of infection.
