Imeglimin Hydrochloride works through a dual mechanism of action involving both pancreatic and extra-pancreatic effects. It improves mitochondrial function, which plays a key role in glucose metabolism.
Enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells
Improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues such as muscle and liver
Reduces hepatic glucose production
Protects beta-cell function by reducing oxidative stress and apoptosis
Unlike some traditional antidiabetic drugs, Imeglimin does not overstimulate insulin release, thereby lowering the risk of hypoglycemia. Its mechanism complements other antidiabetic agents, making it suitable for combination therapy.
Imeglimin is well absorbed after oral administration and is primarily eliminated unchanged through the kidneys.

Nausea
Diarrhea
Abdominal discomfort
Flatulence
These gastrointestinal effects are usually transient and decrease with continued treatment.
Renal function should be assessed before initiating therapy and monitored periodically
Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment
Trimlin Tablet should not replace insulin in insulin-dependent patients
Hypoglycemia is uncommon when used alone but may occur when combined with other glucose-lowering agents
The safety of Imeglimin during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. Trimlin Tablet should be used only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk, under medical supervision.
