Rosutin 20 mg is a potent statin used for managing elevated cholesterol and reducing cardiovascular risk. It belongs to the class of other anti-anginal and anti-ischaemic drugs and works by selectively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the key enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. By lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while modestly increasing HDL cholesterol, Rosutin 20 mg helps prevent atherosclerosis and related cardiovascular events.
Rosutin 20 mg is indicated for heterozygous and homozygous hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia (Fredrickson Type IIa and IIb), and as a primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in high-risk individuals. It not only reduces lipid levels but also improves overall lipid profile, supporting long-term cardiovascular health.

Rosutin 20 mg is recommended for:
Heterozygous Hypercholesterolemia (Familial and Non-familial)
Homozygous Hypercholesterolemia (Familial)
Mixed Dyslipidemia (Fredrickson Type IIa and IIb)
Primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients at high risk
Other Anti-anginal & Anti-ischaemic drugs, Statins
Rosutin 20 mg is a selective and competitive HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. Its lipid-lowering effects occur via:
Increasing hepatic LDL receptor expression, enhancing LDL uptake and catabolism
Inhibiting hepatic VLDL synthesis, reducing VLDL and LDL particle formation
The combined action lowers total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides while modestly raising HDL, thus improving cardiovascular risk profile.
Oral administration:
Adults: 5–40 mg once daily; 40 mg reserved for patients not achieving LDL-C goals with 20 mg
HoFH (Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia): Starting dose 20 mg/day
Pediatric patients with HeFH:
Ages 8–10 years: 5–10 mg/day
Ages 10–17 years: 5–20 mg/day
Pediatric HoFH: 20 mg/day for ages 7–17 years
Rosutin 20 mg can be taken with or without food, at any time of day.
Cyclosporine: Limit to 5 mg/day due to increased exposure
Gemfibrozil: Avoid; if necessary, limit to 10 mg/day
Lopinavir/Ritonavir or Atazanavir/Ritonavir: Limit to 10 mg/day
Coumarin anticoagulants: May prolong INR; monitor closely
Other lipid-lowering therapies (fibrates, niacin): Increased risk of muscle toxicity
Known hypersensitivity to Rosutin
Active liver disease or persistent elevations in hepatic transaminases
Pregnancy or women planning pregnancy
Nursing mothers
Generally well tolerated. Common side effects include:
Headache
Myalgia (muscle pain)
Constipation
Asthenia (weakness)
Abdominal pain
Nausea
Muscle-related effects: Myopathy and rhabdomyolysis risk increases with higher doses (40 mg), age >65, hypothyroidism, renal impairment, or concurrent use with certain drugs. Report unexplained muscle pain promptly.
Liver monitoring: Check hepatic transaminases before and during therapy; discontinue if persistent elevation occurs.
Pediatric use: Safety and effectiveness not established.
Safety in pregnancy has not been established. Rosutin 20 mg should not be used during pregnancy or lactation.
Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Rosutin 20 mg competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, reducing cholesterol synthesis in the liver, upregulating LDL receptors, and lowering circulating LDL and VLDL levels. This dual mechanism improves lipid profile and supports cardiovascular health.
