Pharmacology and Mode of Action

Resolve 2% Shampoo contains a synthetic imidazole-dioxolane that:

• Inhibits the in vitro growth of dermatophytes such as Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. tonsurans, Microsporum canis, M. audouini, M. gypseum, and Epidermophyton floccosum

• Inhibits yeasts such as Candida albicans, Malassezia ovale, and C. tropicalis

• Specifically targets Malassezia furfur, the primary cause of dandruff and tinea versicolor

By altering fungal cell membrane permeability, Resolve 2% prevents the spread of infection and promotes healing of affected skin and scalp areas.

Indications

Resolve 2% Shampoo is indicated for:

• Prevention and treatment of dandruff

• Management of seborrheic dermatitis

• Treatment of tinea (pityriasis) versicolor

• Reducing recurrence of scalp infections caused by Malassezia species

Dosage and Administration

Topical Use (Adults, Elderly, Children):

• Treatment:

  • Dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis: Wash hair twice weekly for 2–4 weeks

  • Tinea versicolor: Apply once daily for up to 5 days

• Prophylaxis:

  • Dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis: Use once every 1–2 weeks

  • Tinea versicolor: Apply once daily for up to 3 days before sun exposure

Instructions:

1. Wash affected areas with shampoo.

2. Leave on scalp or skin for 3–5 minutes before rinsing.

3. Repeat as per treatment or prophylaxis schedule.

If no improvement occurs, the diagnosis should be reassessed.

Contraindications

Side Effects

• Rare and generally mild: itching, dry skin, irritation, abnormal hair texture, scalp pustules, dryness, and oiliness of hair or scalp

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid contact with eyes; rinse immediately with water if shampoo enters eyes

Overdose

• Accidental ingestion: provide supportive and symptomatic care

• Do not induce vomiting or perform gastric lavage due to aspiration risk
