Radizid 80 mg is indicated for:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non–insulin-dependent diabetes)
Patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled by diet and exercise alone
As monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin (as advised by a physician)
It is not indicated for Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Gliclazide belongs to the sulfonylurea group. It works by:
Stimulating beta cells in the pancreas to release insulin
Increasing insulin secretion in response to meals
Improving peripheral glucose utilization
By enhancing insulin availability, it helps reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.
The usual starting dose is 40–80 mg daily, adjusted according to blood glucose levels.
May be taken once or divided into two doses daily.
Best taken with meals to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.
