Odycin Eye Drop 0.50% is a sterile ophthalmic solution containing Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is specifically formulated for topical use in the eye to treat bacterial eye infections. Odycin Eye Drop works by eliminating susceptible bacteria responsible for ocular infections, helping to relieve symptoms such as redness, discharge, irritation, and swelling. Due to its potent antibacterial activity and good ocular penetration, it is widely used in both routine and post-surgical eye care.

Each ml of ophthalmic solution contains:
Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 0.50% w/v
Ophthalmic antibacterial (Fluoroquinolone antibiotic)
Moxifloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes that are essential for bacterial DNA replication, repair, and transcription. By blocking these enzymes, Odycin Eye Drop effectively stops bacterial growth and leads to bacterial cell death. Its dual-enzyme inhibition mechanism reduces the risk of bacterial resistance and ensures broad coverage against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms commonly associated with eye infections.
Odycin Eye Drop 0.50% is indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, including:
Bacterial conjunctivitis
Blepharitis
Keratitis
Other superficial ocular infections
It may also be prescribed for the prevention of infection following eye surgery or ocular procedures, as advised by an ophthalmologist.
The usual recommended dosage is one drop into the affected eye(s) as directed by a physician, typically two to three times daily depending on the severity of the infection. Patients should complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve earlier, to ensure complete eradication of the infection. Proper hand hygiene should be maintained before and after application.
