Flutisal Inhalation Capsule 50 mcg + 250 mcg is a combination respiratory medication containing Salmeterol and Fluticasone Propionate. This dual-action formulation is designed for the long-term management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). By combining a long-acting bronchodilator with an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid, Flutisal helps improve lung function, control symptoms, and reduce the frequency of exacerbations.

Flutisal Inhalation Capsule is indicated for:
Maintenance treatment of bronchial asthma in patients requiring combination therapy
Long-term management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema
Prevention of asthma symptoms such as wheezing, breathlessness, and chest tightness
This product is not intended for the relief of acute bronchospasm.
Long-Acting Beta-2 Agonist (LABA) + Inhaled Corticosteroid (ICS)
Salmeterol is a selective long-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that produces prolonged bronchodilation by relaxing smooth muscles in the airways. Its long duration of action helps maintain open airways for up to 12 hours, improving breathing and reducing nocturnal symptoms.
Fluticasone Propionate is a potent inhaled corticosteroid that exerts strong anti-inflammatory effects in the respiratory tract. It inhibits multiple inflammatory mediators and reduces airway swelling, mucus production, and hyperresponsiveness. The combination of these two agents provides effective control of both bronchoconstriction and underlying inflammation, leading to improved symptom control and better disease management.
Adults and Adolescents: One inhalation capsule twice daily, as prescribed by a physician
Elderly: No dosage adjustment is generally required
Pediatric: Use in children should be under medical supervision
The capsule should be used only with a compatible dry powder inhalation device and must not be swallowed. Patients are advised to rinse the mouth with water after inhalation to reduce the risk of oral candidiasis.
Concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole or ritonavir may increase systemic exposure to fluticasone. Beta-blockers may reduce the bronchodilatory effect of salmeterol. Caution is advised when used with other sympathomimetic drugs or corticosteroids.
Flutisal Inhalation Capsule is contraindicated in patients with:
Known hypersensitivity to salmeterol, fluticasone propionate, or any component of the formulation
Acute asthma attacks or rapidly deteriorating asthma
Commonly reported side effects include:
Throat irritation and hoarseness
Headache
Cough
Oral candidiasis
Systemic corticosteroid effects are rare when used at recommended doses.
Flutisal Inhalation Capsule should be used during pregnancy only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs potential risks to the fetus. Caution is advised when administered to breastfeeding mothers.
Regular use as prescribed is essential for optimal benefit. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided. Patients with cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, or thyroid disease should use this medication with caution.
Hepatic Impairment: Use with caution due to potential increased systemic exposure
Elderly: Generally well tolerated with standard dosing.
