Indications

Fluclox Capsule is indicated for the treatment of:

• Skin and soft tissue infections (cellulitis, abscesses, boils)
• Wound infections
• Bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis)
• Respiratory tract infections (tonsillitis, pneumonia)
• Ear infections (otitis media)
• Preventive therapy in certain surgical procedures prone to Staphylococcus infection

Dosage and Administration

• The usual adult dose is 250–500 mg every 6 hours, depending on the severity of infection.
• For children, the dose is calculated based on body weight.
• Take the capsule on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after meals, with a full glass of water.
• Complete the full course as prescribed, even if symptoms improve before completion.

Mechanism of Action

Flucloxacillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that:

• Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins
• Leads to cell lysis and bacterial death
• Targets Gram-positive bacteria, particularly penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus aureus

Precautions
