Evimar 13 Injection 25 mcg/0.5 ml is a polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine designed to provide protection against invasive diseases caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is a conjugate vaccine that helps the immune system recognize and fight pneumococcal bacteria, which can cause severe infections such as pneumonia, meningitis, and bacteremia. Evimar 13 is particularly recommended for infants, young children, and adults at risk of pneumococcal disease, offering robust immunity against 13 common pneumococcal serotypes responsible for the majority of invasive infections globally.

Evimar 13 Injection is indicated for:
Prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes included in the vaccine.
Protection against pneumonia, meningitis, and bacteremia in infants and children.
Immunization of adults aged 50 years and above, or those with high-risk conditions such as:
Chronic heart, liver, or kidney disease
Immunocompromised states (including HIV infection or post-transplant patients)
Chronic respiratory conditions
Note: This vaccine is not intended for treatment of existing pneumococcal infections; it is solely for prevention.
Vaccines – Conjugate Polysaccharide Pneumococcal Vaccine
Evimar 13 is a conjugate vaccine, combining polysaccharides from the capsule of 13 pneumococcal serotypes with a carrier protein. This conjugation enhances the immune response by:
Stimulating T-cell dependent immunity, leading to the development of immune memory
Promoting the production of high-affinity antibodies, which effectively target pneumococcal bacteria
Reducing nasopharyngeal colonization, thereby decreasing the risk of transmission
The vaccine is highly immunogenic, leading to rapid antibody formation after administration. Multiple doses in infants or a single dose in adults typically confer long-lasting protection.
Recommended dose: 0.5 ml per injection
Route of administration: Intramuscular (IM), preferably in the deltoid region for adults or anterolateral thigh for infants and young children
Schedule:
Infants and children (6 weeks to 5 years): Administer as a primary series with or without booster doses, based on national immunization guidelines
Adults and high-risk individuals: Single dose for primary vaccination; booster doses may be recommended in specific cases based on immune status
Important: Do not administer intravenously, subcutaneously, or intradermally. Use a sterile syringe and needle, and do not mix with other vaccines or medications in the same syringe.
Known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine, including diphtheria toxoid or pneumococcal polysaccharides
Individuals who experienced a severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of any pneumococcal vaccine
Common side effects are generally mild and self-limiting, including:
Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site
Low-grade fever
Irritability or fatigue
Mild headache or malaise
Rare but serious adverse events may include severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), which require immediate medical attention.

Vaccinate individuals only when they are healthy or mildly ill; postpone during acute severe illness.
Monitor for at least 15 minutes after administration for any immediate allergic reaction.
Use with caution in individuals with moderate to severe immune deficiencies; efficacy may be reduced.
Adherence to the recommended immunization schedule is crucial for optimal protection.
Safety in pregnant women has not been fully established. Vaccination should be considered only if clearly needed.
Breastfeeding is not a contraindication, and maternal vaccination may confer passive immunity to the infant.
Store at 2–8°C (refrigerated).
Do not freeze.
Protect from light and keep out of reach of children.
Use the vaccine immediately after opening, and do not use if the solution is discolored or contains particulates.
