Sinusitis
Upper respiratory tract infections
Temporary relief of nasal obstruction due to inflamed nasal mucosa
This strength is typically recommended for infants and young children, as advised by a healthcare professional.
Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride is a direct-acting alpha-adrenergic agonist. When applied intranasally, it causes vasoconstriction of the dilated blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. This vasoconstrictive action reduces swelling, edema, and nasal congestion, leading to improved airflow through the nasal passages.
Azolin Nasal Drop begins to act within minutes of application and provides relief for up to 10–12 hours. Due to its topical action and minimal systemic absorption when used correctly, it is effective and generally well tolerated.
The dosage should be used strictly as directed by a physician.
Typically, 1–2 drops are instilled into each nostril once or twice daily.
The child should lie on their back with the head tilted slightly backward during administration.
The nasal dropper should be kept clean to avoid contamination.
Treatment duration should generally not exceed 3–5 days.
Azolin Nasal Drop is usually well tolerated when used for short periods. Possible side effects include:
Mild nasal irritation or dryness
Sneezing
Burning sensation in the nose
Rebound congestion with prolonged or excessive use
Most side effects are mild and temporary.
For nasal use only.
Prolonged use may cause rebound nasal congestion.
Use with caution in children and only under medical advice.
Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to oxymetazoline.
Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration.
Systemic interactions are unlikely due to minimal absorption. However, caution is advised if the child is receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other sympathomimetic drugs.
