It is used as part of parenteral nutrition (intravenous nutrition) to provide calories and essential fatty acids in patients who cannot obtain adequate nutrition orally or enterally.

Omegaven is especially beneficial in patients requiring long-term parenteral nutrition and in those at risk of parenteral nutrition–associated liver disease (PNALD). Indications

Omegaven Injection 10% is indicated for:

• Management or prevention of parenteral nutrition–associated liver complications
