Alodia Tablet 25 mg contains Alogliptin Benzoate, an oral antidiabetic medication used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the class of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors and helps improve glycemic control by enhancing the body’s natural ability to regulate blood glucose levels. Alodia Tablet is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise and may be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents to achieve optimal blood sugar control.

Alodia Tablet 25 mg is indicated for:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus
Improving glycemic control in adults when diet and exercise alone are insufficient
Use as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic drugs or insulin, as advised by a physician
It is not indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
DPP-4 inhibitor (Antidiabetic agent)
Alogliptin Benzoate selectively inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones such as GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide). By increasing the levels of these incretins, alogliptin enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppresses glucagon release from alpha cells. This results in reduced hepatic glucose production and improved postprandial and fasting blood glucose levels. Since its action is glucose-dependent, the risk of hypoglycemia is low when used alone.
The recommended dose of Alodia Tablet is determined by the physician based on individual patient needs.
The usual adult dose is 25 mg once daily
Can be taken with or without food
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water
Dose adjustment may be required in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment. Patients should adhere strictly to prescribed dosage and continue recommended dietary and lifestyle modifications.
Alogliptin has a low potential for drug interactions. It can be safely used with commonly prescribed antidiabetic agents, antihypertensives, and lipid-lowering drugs. However, caution is advised when used with insulin or insulin secretagogues due to an increased risk of hypoglycemia.
Alodia Tablet 25 mg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Alogliptin Benzoate or any component of the formulation. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Alodia Tablet is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include headache, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Rare but serious adverse effects include pancreatitis and hypersensitivity reactions, which require immediate medical attention.
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, pancreatitis history, or heart failure. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and renal function is recommended. Patients should be educated about recognizing symptoms of pancreatitis, such as severe abdominal pain.
