Valsartil Plus Tablet 160 mg+25 mg is a combination antihypertensive medication that contains Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), a thiazide diuretic. This dual-action therapy is designed to manage high blood pressure effectively by targeting two complementary mechanisms: Valsartan blocks the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone that constricts blood vessels, while Hydrochlorothiazide increases the excretion of sodium and water through the kidneys, reducing blood volume. Together, these actions help lower blood pressure, decrease the risk of cardiovascular events, and support overall heart health.

Valsartil Plus Tablet 160 mg+25 mg is indicated for:
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults, especially when monotherapy with either component is insufficient
Reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications associated with prolonged hypertension, such as stroke, heart attack, and heart failure
By lowering elevated blood pressure, Valsartil Plus helps protect organs like the heart, kidneys, and brain from damage caused by chronic hypertension.
Antihypertensive / ARB + Thiazide Diuretic Combination
Valsartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptors, preventing angiotensin II from binding to vascular smooth muscles. This inhibition causes vasodilation, reducing systemic vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. Valsartan also reduces aldosterone secretion, which minimizes sodium and water retention.
Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is a thiazide diuretic that acts on the distal convoluted tubules of the kidney, increasing the excretion of sodium and water while retaining potassium to some extent. This reduction in blood volume contributes to a further decrease in blood pressure. The combination of these two drugs produces additive antihypertensive effects, improving blood pressure control compared to either agent alone.
The combination is especially beneficial for patients who require more than one mechanism of action to achieve target blood pressure levels.
Adults: 1 tablet orally once daily, with or without food
The dosage may be adjusted according to individual response and tolerability
Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy
Patients should follow their physician’s instructions closely and avoid abrupt discontinuation, as sudden cessation may lead to rebound hypertension.
Hypersensitivity to Valsartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, or any component of the formulation
Severe renal impairment or anuria
Hyperkalemia or significant electrolyte imbalance
Pregnancy and breastfeeding (especially during the second and third trimesters)
Valsartil Plus is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include:
Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up quickly
Headache
Fatigue
Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea or abdominal discomfort
Mild electrolyte imbalance, including low sodium or potassium levels
Rare but serious side effects include severe hypotension, kidney function impairment, and allergic reactions.
Monitor kidney function and electrolytes regularly
Use with caution in patients with heart failure, liver disease, or electrolyte disturbances
Avoid excessive potassium supplementation unless prescribed by a physician
Not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters
Concomitant use with other antihypertensive drugs may increase hypotensive effects
NSAIDs may reduce antihypertensive efficacy and affect kidney function
Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics may lead to hyperkalemia
Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
