Indications

Prostanor Capsule is indicated for:

• Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
• Urinary hesitancy and weak stream
• Nocturia (frequent night-time urination)
• Urinary urgency and incomplete bladder emptying
• Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with prostate enlargement

Mechanism of Action

Silodosin selectively blocks alpha-1A adrenergic receptors located in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra. This leads to relaxation of smooth muscle tissue, reducing urethral resistance and improving urine flow without significantly affecting blood pressure compared to non-selective alpha blockers.

Dosage and Administration

• Usually taken once daily or as directed by a physician.
• Should be taken with food to improve absorption.
• Swallow whole with water; do not crush or open the capsule.
