Progut Capsule 40 mg contains Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively reduces gastric acid secretion. It is used in the management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, erosive esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This higher-strength formulation is suitable for moderate to severe acid-related conditions requiring stronger acid suppression and faster symptom relief.

Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole and works by selectively and irreversibly inhibiting the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells.
