Progut Capsule 20 mg contains Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce excess stomach acid production. It is indicated for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and dyspepsia. This formulation helps relieve symptoms like heartburn, acid regurgitation, and stomach irritation while promoting healing of the gastric and esophageal mucosa.

Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole and works by selectively and irreversibly inhibiting the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells.
