Intobac 0.3% is a topical ophthalmic antibacterial preparation designed for the treatment of external eye infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Available as both eye drops and eye ointment, Intobac 0.3% helps eliminate bacterial pathogens by interfering with protein synthesis, thereby restoring ocular health and preventing the spread of infection. Proper monitoring of bacterial response is recommended during therapy to ensure efficacy and prevent resistance.

Ophthalmic antibacterial drugs
Each milliliter of Intobac 0.3% contains:
Tobramycin 0.3% w/v
Intobac 0.3% is indicated for the treatment of:
External infections of the eye, including conjunctivitis and keratitis
Infections of the ocular adnexa, such as eyelid or periocular bacterial infections
The medication should be used only when caused by bacteria susceptible to Tobramycin, and response should be monitored throughout therapy.
Intobac 0.3% is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to both the 30S and 50S ribosomal subunits, disrupting the translation process and producing defective bacterial cell membranes. This bactericidal action leads to the elimination of susceptible organisms, resolving infection and inflammation in the affected eye.
Eye Drops:
Mild to moderate infections: 1 drop in the affected eye(s) every 4 hours
Severe infections: 1 drop in the affected eye(s) every hour until improvement, then gradually reduce dosage before discontinuation
Eye Ointment:
Mild to moderate infections: Apply a thin layer into the conjunctival sac 2–3 times daily
Severe infections: Apply 3–4 times daily until improvement, then taper the dosage prior to discontinuation
For both forms, patients should follow the prescribed regimen and avoid skipping doses to ensure effective bacterial eradication.
Known hypersensitivity to Tobramycin or any component of the formulation
Patients with history of hypersensitivity to other aminoglycosides due to potential cross-reactivity
Localized ocular toxicity (rare, <3% of patients)
Hypersensitivity reactions such as:
Lid itching or swelling
Conjunctival erythema
Most side effects are mild and resolve upon discontinuation of therapy.
