Hypnofast 7.5 mg Tablet is a benzodiazepine sedative and hypnotic containing Midazolam, designed for the short-term management of insomnia and for sedation prior to surgical or diagnostic procedures. It acts on the central nervous system to produce rapid sedation, anxiolysis, muscle relaxation, and amnesia, helping patients relax before medical interventions or achieve restful sleep. Hypnofast is ideal for adult and elderly patients requiring a controlled, short-term sedative.

Hypnofast 7.5 mg is indicated for:
Short-term treatment of insomnia where difficulty in falling or maintaining sleep occurs
Premedication before surgery or diagnostic procedures to induce sedation, reduce anxiety, and promote patient comfort
It is recommended for use under medical supervision for limited durations, typically no longer than 2 weeks, except in special circumstances where the physician extends therapy.
Benzodiazepine Hypnotics
Benzodiazepine Sedatives
Midazolam binds to benzodiazepine receptors on GABA-A neurons in the central nervous system, including the limbic system and reticular formation. By enhancing the inhibitory effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA):
Neuronal membranes become hyperpolarized, reducing excitability
Sedation, hypnosis, muscle relaxation, and anxiolysis are achieved
Produces amnesic effects, making it useful in pre-procedural sedation
The pharmacological action is dose-dependent, and its short half-life allows rapid onset and recovery, minimizing prolonged sedation.
Oral administration:
Adults: 7.5–15 mg at bedtime for insomnia
Elderly or debilitated patients: 7.5 mg at bedtime
Premedication: 7.5–15 mg, 30–60 minutes before procedure
Intravenous (IV) administration:
Endoscopic/Cardiovascular procedures: Adults 2.5 mg; elderly or debilitated 1–1.5 mg
Induction of anesthesia: Adults 10–15 mg; children 0.15–0.20 mg/kg
Intravenous doses should be administered very slowly, with continuous monitoring
Intramuscular (IM) administration:
Adults: 0.07–0.1 mg/kg (usually 5 mg)
Children: 0.15–0.20 mg/kg
Elderly/debilitated: 0.025–0.05 mg/kg
Rectal administration (children): 0.35–0.45 mg/kg, 20–30 minutes before induction of anesthesia
Enhances CNS depression with neuroleptics, antidepressants, analgesics, antihistamines, and other sedatives
Additive sedative effects require dose adjustments in polypharmacy
Severe respiratory insufficiency
Severe hepatic insufficiency
Sleep apnea syndrome
Myasthenia gravis
Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines or any component
Daytime drowsiness, confusion, fatigue, headache, and muscle weakness
IV or IM administration: respiratory depression, apnea, blood pressure fluctuations
Rarely: paradoxical reactions such as agitation or irritability
Monitor respiration and cardiovascular status during administration
Avoid long-term use to prevent dependence and tolerance
Adjust doses in elderly or debilitated patients
Flumazenil may be used as an antidote in case of overdose
Avoid during pregnancy unless no safer alternative is available
Not recommended for breastfeeding mothers, as Midazolam passes into breast milk
Store in a cool, dry place protected from light and moisture
Keep out of reach of children.
