Finacof Syrup is a combination syrup containing Phenylephrine 5 mg and Promethazine 6.25 mg per 5 ml, formulated to provide rapid relief from symptoms of allergic conditions, nasal congestion, and upper respiratory tract discomfort. This dual-action syrup works both as a decongestant and an antihistamine, offering effective symptomatic relief from runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, itching, and watery eyes commonly associated with colds, hay fever, and allergic rhinitis.
Phenylephrine acts as a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, constricting nasal blood vessels to reduce swelling and congestion. Promethazine, a first-generation antihistamine, blocks H1 receptors, alleviating allergic reactions, pruritus, and sneezing. The syrup’s palatable formulation ensures easy administration, making it suitable for adults and children above the recommended age. Finacof Syrup provides both immediate relief from nasal and eye symptoms and helps improve overall comfort during allergic episodes.

Combination therapy for allergy and cold symptoms
Finacof Syrup is indicated for the symptomatic relief of:
Allergic rhinitis: Sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes
Common cold symptoms: Nasal congestion, mild cough, and postnasal drip
Hay fever: Seasonal allergy symptoms
Other allergic conditions: Pruritus and urticaria-related discomfort
It is suitable for short-term use to manage acute symptoms and improve patient comfort.
Phenylephrine acts on alpha-1 adrenergic receptors in the nasal mucosa, causing vasoconstriction. This reduces nasal swelling and congestion, facilitating easier breathing.
Promethazine competitively blocks histamine at H1 receptors, preventing histamine-mediated allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. It also has mild sedative properties, helping relieve associated discomfort and restlessness.
The combination of phenylephrine and promethazine provides a synergistic effect, addressing both the cause and symptoms of allergic reactions and congestion efficiently.
