For patients with difficulty swallowing, the capsule contents may be mixed with soft applesauce and swallowed immediately without chewing.
Injection (Esomeprazole IV):
Recommended dose: 40 mg once daily by slow intravenous injection or infusion
IV use should be discontinued once oral therapy can be resumed
Esomeprazole selectively inhibits the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, leading to a marked reduction in gastric acid secretion. As the S-isomer of omeprazole, it provides improved acid suppression and more consistent therapeutic outcomes compared to racemic PPIs.

Esomeprazole is metabolized mainly by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4 enzymes.
It may reduce the clearance of drugs such as diazepam.
Reduced gastric acidity may affect absorption of drugs like ketoconazole, iron salts, and digoxin.
No clinically significant interactions have been observed with warfarin, phenytoin, amoxicillin, or clarithromycin.
Esonix 20 mg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or any component of the formulation.
Commonly reported side effects include:
