Dimerol Tablet 80 mg contains Gliclazide, an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the sulfonylurea class. It is used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when blood sugar levels cannot be adequately controlled by diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications alone. Dimerol helps improve glycemic control and reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications when taken as prescribed.
Gliclazide works by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin. It binds to specific receptors on pancreatic beta cells, promoting insulin secretion in response to elevated blood glucose levels. Additionally, it may enhance peripheral insulin sensitivity and reduce hepatic glucose production to some extent. The overall effect is a reduction in fasting and postprandial (after-meal) blood sugar levels.
Dimerol Tablet 80 mg is typically used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin or insulin, depending on the patient’s condition and physician’s recommendation.
