Indications

Dicephin Injection 1 gm/vial is indicated for infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, including:

• Lower respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia

• Urinary tract infections (complicated and uncomplicated)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Bone and joint infections

• Intra-abdominal infections

• Septicemia (bloodstream infections)

• Meningitis

• Gonorrhea and other sexually transmitted infections

• Pelvic inflammatory disease

It is also used as a prophylactic agent before certain surgical procedures to reduce the risk of postoperative infections.

Dosage and Administration

The dosage and duration of therapy depend on the type and severity of infection, patient age, body weight, and organ function.

• Adults: Typically 1–2 gm once daily or divided into two doses. Severe infections may require up to 4 gm per day as directed by a physician.

• Children: Dose is calculated according to body weight.
