Deferox Tablet 500 mg contains Deferasirox, an oral iron chelator used for the treatment of chronic iron overload due to repeated blood transfusions or certain blood disorders. It helps remove excess iron from the body, thereby preventing organ damage to the heart, liver, and endocrine glands caused by iron accumulation.
This once-daily oral therapy improves patient convenience compared to injectable iron chelators.

Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains:
Mechanism of Action
Deferasirox selectively binds to excess trivalent iron (Fe³⁺) in the bloodstream and forms a stable complex. This iron-chelator complex is then primarily excreted through the feces. By reducing excess iron stores, it helps prevent oxidative tissue damage and long-term complications associated with iron overload.
