Creva 10 mg Tablet contains Rosuvastatin, a potent statin used to manage hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events. It works by lowering elevated levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol, and triglycerides while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).
High cholesterol is a major risk factor for atherosclerosis, heart attack, and stroke. Creva 10 mg plays a vital role in both lipid management and the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease, especially in high-risk individuals.

Creva 10 mg (Rosuvastatin) is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme responsible for converting HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a precursor of cholesterol synthesis in the liver.
It lowers cholesterol through two primary mechanisms:
Increases hepatic LDL receptors, enhancing the uptake and breakdown of LDL cholesterol from circulation.
Reduces hepatic VLDL production, which decreases the total number of VLDL and LDL particles.
This dual action significantly reduces LDL-C and improves the overall lipid profile, contributing to reduced plaque formation and cardiovascular risk.
Creva 10 mg is indicated for:
Heterozygous Familial and Non-familial Hypercholesterolemia
Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH)
Mixed Dyslipidemia (Fredrickson Type IIa and IIb)
Primary prevention of cardiovascular disease
Dose range: 5–40 mg once daily
Usual starting dose: 5–10 mg once daily
40 mg dose reserved for patients not reaching LDL-C goals with 20 mg
HoFH: Starting dose 20 mg daily
Pediatric HeFH (8–<10 years): 5–10 mg daily
Pediatric HeFH (10–17 years): 5–20 mg daily
Pediatric HoFH (7–17 years): 20 mg daily
Creva 10 mg may be taken with or without food, at any time of the day.
Notable interactions include:
Cyclosporine: Increased rosuvastatin exposure; do not exceed 5 mg daily
Gemfibrosil: Avoid combination; if necessary, limit to 10 mg daily
Lopinavir/Ritonavir or Atazanavir/Ritonavir: Limit dose to 10 mg daily
Coumarin anticoagulants: May prolong INR; monitor closely
Fibrates and Niacin: Increased risk of skeletal muscle effects
Creva 10 mg is contraindicated in:
Known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or components
Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation of liver enzymes
Pregnant women or women planning pregnancy
Nursing mothers
Creva 10 mg is generally well tolerated. Common side effects include:
Headache

Constipation
Asthenia (weakness)
Abdominal pain
Nausea
Rare but serious effects include myopathy and rhabdomyolysis, especially at higher doses.

Increased risk of skeletal muscle effects in elderly patients (>65 years), those with hypothyroidism, renal impairment, or when used with interacting drugs
Advise patients to report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness
Monitor liver enzymes before and during treatment
Discontinue therapy if serious muscle or liver symptoms occur
Safety in pregnancy is not established; contraindicated during pregnancy
It is unknown whether rosuvastatin is excreted in human milk
Breastfeeding should be discontinued if treatment is necessary
Store below 30°C
Protect from light and moisture
Keep out of reach of children
Pediatric safety and efficacy require careful dose adjustment as specified
Use with caution in elderly and patients with renal impairment.
