Xyotil Plus Tablet combines Olmesartan Medoxomil (20 mg) and Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg) to provide effective management of hypertension. This dual-action formulation is particularly useful for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy. Olmesartan is a selective angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels, while hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that reduces fluid volume, resulting in a synergistic effect on blood pressure reduction.

Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (Olmesartan)
Thiazide Diuretic (Hydrochlorothiazide)
Xyotil Plus Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment of essential hypertension in adults
Patients requiring additional blood pressure control when monotherapy with an ARB or diuretic is insufficient
The combination therapy helps in lowering the risk of cardiovascular complications, including stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage associated with prolonged high blood pressure.
Olmesartan Medoxomil
Olmesartan is a potent, orally active, selective AT1 receptor antagonist. By blocking the effects of angiotensin II, it reduces vasoconstriction and aldosterone-mediated sodium and water retention, resulting in decreased blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that acts on the distal convoluted tubules in the kidney to inhibit sodium and chloride reabsorption. This promotes diuresis, reduces plasma volume, and lowers blood pressure. The combination of Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide provides complementary mechanisms to achieve effective antihypertensive therapy.
Adults: One tablet of Xyotil Plus (20 mg + 12.5 mg) once daily, with or without food.
Dose Adjustment:
Renal Impairment: Use with caution in patients with creatinine clearance <30 mL/min; monitoring is advised.
Hepatic Impairment: Use with caution in moderate to severe hepatic dysfunction.
Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness have not been established.
For patients not adequately controlled on monotherapy, combination therapy provides superior blood pressure reduction. Tablets should be taken consistently at the same time each day.

Lithium: May increase risk of lithium toxicity
NSAIDs: May reduce antihypertensive effect and impair renal function
Other antihypertensives: Additive blood pressure-lowering effects may occur
Potassium supplements or salt substitutes: Monitor potassium levels when using Olmesartan
Hypersensitivity to Olmesartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, or any tablet component
Severe renal impairment or anuria
Hyperkalemia or severe electrolyte imbalance
Common:
Dizziness, headache, fatigue
Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea or diarrhea
Mild cough or upper respiratory infections
Serious but rare:
Electrolyte disturbances (hypokalemia, hyponatremia)
Severe hypotension
Renal impairment or acute kidney injury
Pregnancy: Contraindicated in the second and third trimesters due to risk of fetal toxicity. Use only in the first trimester if clearly needed.
Lactation: Unknown if excreted in human milk. Use with caution and weigh the benefits versus risk to the infant.
Monitor renal function, serum electrolytes, and blood pressure regularly
Avoid dehydration to prevent hypotension
Caution in elderly patients or those on concurrent diuretic therapy
Discontinue if signs of angioedema occur
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
