Ximeprox Tablet 100 mg contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It is a prodrug that is converted in the body to its active form, cefpodoxime, after absorption. Ximeprox is effective against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and is commonly prescribed for respiratory, urinary, skin, and soft tissue infections.
Ximeprox Tablet 100 mg is designed to provide reliable antibacterial activity with good patient tolerability, making it suitable for both adult and pediatric use as directed by a physician.

Third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic
Ximeprox Tablet 100 mg is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:
Upper respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis
Lower respiratory tract infections including acute bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia
Acute bacterial sinusitis
Otitis media
Urinary tract infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
The selection of Ximeprox should be based on culture and sensitivity results whenever possible, or on clinical judgment of likely pathogens.
Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an orally administered ester prodrug that is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and hydrolyzed to cefpodoxime, the active antibacterial compound. Cefpodoxime exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are essential for the formation of the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis and death.
Cefpodoxime is stable against many beta-lactamases produced by common pathogenic bacteria, contributing to its broad-spectrum activity. Peak plasma concentrations are generally achieved within 2 to 3 hours after oral administration. The drug is primarily eliminated unchanged via the kidneys.

Binds to penicillin-binding proteins
Causes bacterial cell lysis and death
Effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
Dosage should be determined by the physician based on the type and severity of infection, age, and renal function of the patient.
Adults:
Usual dose is 100 mg to 200 mg twice daily, depending on the infection
Children:
Dose is calculated based on body weight and clinical condition
Ximeprox Tablet should be taken orally, preferably with food, to enhance absorption. The full course of therapy should be completed even if symptoms improve early, to prevent the development of resistant bacteria.

Ximeprox Tablet 100 mg is contraindicated in patients with:
Known hypersensitivity to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporins, or any component of the formulation
History of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics
Ximeprox is generally well tolerated. Commonly reported side effects include:
Diarrhea
Nausea or vomiting
Abdominal pain
Headache
Skin rash
Rare but serious adverse effects may include hypersensitivity reactions and antibiotic-associated colitis. Patients should seek medical advice if severe or persistent symptoms occur.
Ximeprox Tablet should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician. Cefpodoxime is excreted in breast milk in small amounts, caution should be exercised when administered to nursing mothers.
Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis
Dose adjustment may be required in patients with renal impairment
Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
Discontinue therapy if signs of severe allergic reaction occur
Antacids and H2-receptor antagonists may reduce the absorption of cefpodoxime when taken simultaneously. It is advisable to administer Ximeprox at least 2 hours before or after such medications.
Store in a cool and dry place
