Xibrofen 0.09% is indicated for:
Treatment of postoperative ocular inflammation
Reduction of eye pain following cataract extraction
It is specifically intended for use after eye surgery to control inflammation mediated by prostaglandins.
Xibrofen 0.09% contains a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Prostaglandins play a key role in intraocular inflammation and are associated with vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, leukocyte infiltration, disruption of the blood-aqueous barrier, and elevated intraocular pressure. By suppressing prostaglandin production, Xibrofen helps control inflammation and pain in the operated eye.
