Tropidil Eye Drop 1% contains Tropicamide, a short-acting mydriatic and cycloplegic agent used in ophthalmic examinations. It helps dilate the pupil and temporarily relax the eye’s focusing muscle, allowing detailed examination of the retina and other internal structures of the eye.

Composition
Each ml contains:
Indications
Tropidil Eye Drop is indicated for:
-
Pupil dilation (mydriasis) for diagnostic eye examinations
-
Cycloplegic refraction in eye testing
-
Fundoscopic examination of the retina
-
Pre-operative ophthalmic procedures
-
Uveitis management (to reduce pain and prevent synechiae formation, as prescribed)
Mechanism of Action
Tropicamide is an anticholinergic agent that blocks muscarinic receptors in the eye. This leads to relaxation of the iris sphincter muscle (causing pupil dilation) and the ciliary muscle (causing loss of accommodation). Its short duration of action makes it suitable for routine eye examinations.
