Trimotil Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment and symptomatic relief of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Management of postoperative paralytic ileus to accelerate the resumption of intestinal transit following abdominal surgery
Trimebutine maleate is a non-competitive spasmolytic agent with:
Modest affinity for opiate receptors
Strong anti-serotonin activity, particularly on mu receptors
In experimental studies on isolated guinea pig colon and ileum, it has been shown to synchronize electrophysiological activity with intestinal contractions. Rather than altering normal motility, Trimebutine selectively modulates abnormal or disordered intestinal movements, thereby restoring functional balance in the gastrointestinal tract.
Adults: 100–200 mg (1–2 tablets), three times daily, preferably before meals
Children: Not recommended for children under 12 years of age
Dosage should be adjusted according to clinical response and physician advice.
Trimebutine maleate may increase the duration of d-tubocurarine-induced neuromuscular blockade
No other clinically significant drug interactions have been reported in clinical trials
Trimotil Tablet is contraindicated in:
Patients with known hypersensitivity to Trimebutine maleate or any of the excipients
