Composition

Each gram contains:

Indications

Topibac Ointment is indicated for:

• Impetigo (non-bullous skin infection)
• Secondary infected minor cuts and abrasions
• Superficial bacterial skin infections
• Localized skin lesions caused by susceptible bacteria
• Mild infected dermatitis (as advised by physician)

Mechanism of Action

Retapamulin is a pleuromutilin-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This prevents bacterial growth and replication, leading to reduction of infection and allowing the skin to heal effectively.

Dosage & Administration

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily or as directed by a physician
• Usually used for a short duration of treatment
• Clean and dry the affected area before application
• Avoid covering with tight bandages unless advised
• Wash hands before and after use
• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve

Precautions

• For external use only
• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes
• Do not use on large or deep infected wounds unless prescribed
• Use cautiously in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug
• Discontinue if severe irritation or allergic reaction occurs
