Radimet Tablet 500 mg contains Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg, an oral antidiabetic medication widely used as a first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the biguanide class and helps control blood glucose levels by improving the body’s response to insulin and reducing glucose production in the liver.

Radimet 500 mg is indicated for:
Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
Overweight or obese diabetic patients

Sulfonylureas
DPP-4 inhibitors
Insulin

It may also be used in certain cases of insulin resistance, as determined by a physician.

Metformin works through multiple mechanisms:
Decreases hepatic glucose production (gluconeogenesis)
Improves insulin sensitivity in muscle and fat tissues
Enhances peripheral glucose uptake
Reduces intestinal glucose absorption
Unlike some other antidiabetic drugs, metformin does not stimulate insulin secretion, which reduces the risk of hypoglycemia when used alone.
The usual starting dose is 500 mg once or twice daily, taken with meals.
Dose may be gradually increased based on blood glucose response and tolerability.
