Optacarpine Eye Drop 2% contains Pilocarpine Hydrochloride, a cholinergic (miotic) agent used in ophthalmology to reduce intraocular pressure. It is primarily prescribed for the management of glaucoma and certain other eye conditions where lowering eye pressure is essential. By improving the outflow of aqueous humor, Optacarpine helps protect the optic nerve and prevent vision loss associated with elevated intraocular pressure.

Composition
-
Active Ingredient: Pilocarpine Hydrochloride 2% (Ophthalmic)
Indications
Optacarpine Eye Drop 2% is indicated for:
-
Open-angle glaucoma
-
Acute angle-closure glaucoma (as part of emergency management)
-
Ocular hypertension
-
Post-surgical reduction of intraocular pressure
-
Induction of miosis (pupil constriction) during ophthalmic procedures
Mechanism of Action
Pilocarpine Hydrochloride is a direct-acting cholinergic agonist that stimulates muscarinic receptors in the eye. This action causes contraction of the ciliary muscle and constriction of the pupil (miosis), which leads to increased drainage of aqueous humor through the trabecular meshwork. As a result, intraocular pressure is reduced effectively.
