Nokof DS Syrup 250 mg/5 ml is a double-strength mucolytic formulation containing Carbocisteine, designed to effectively manage respiratory conditions associated with excessive, thick, and tenacious mucus. This syrup helps reduce mucus viscosity and improves its clearance from the respiratory tract, thereby easing breathing and relieving productive cough. Nokof DS Syrup is suitable for both pediatric and adult patients who require a higher-strength mucolytic therapy under medical supervision.
By improving the quality and flow of bronchial secretions, Nokof DS Syrup supports better airway patency and enhances the effectiveness of cough, making it easier to expel mucus from the lungs.

Nokof DS Syrup 250 mg/5 ml is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract disorders characterized by abnormal or excessive mucus production, including:
Acute bronchitis
Chronic bronchitis
Bronchial asthma with mucus hypersecretion
Bronchiectasis
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Upper respiratory tract infections with productive cough
Pneumonia and other lower respiratory tract infections requiring mucus drainage
Cough Expectorants & Mucolytics
Carbocisteine, the active ingredient of Nokof DS Syrup, acts by regulating the composition of mucus in the respiratory tract. It reduces goblet cell hyperplasia, which contributes to excessive mucus secretion. Carbocisteine breaks the disulphide bonds that cross-link glycoprotein chains in thick sputum, leading to reduced viscosity.
Additionally, it restores the normal balance between sialomucins and fucomucins, resulting in thinner, less sticky mucus with increased volume. This improved mucus quality enhances mucociliary clearance, facilitates expectoration, and helps relieve airway obstruction.
