Nimenrix Injection 50 mcg/0.5 ml is a conjugate vaccine designed to provide active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y. It helps protect against serious infections such as meningitis (infection of the protective membranes of the brain and spinal cord) and septicemia (bloodstream infection).
Nimenrix is formulated as a quadrivalent conjugate vaccine, meaning that the meningococcal polysaccharides are conjugated to a carrier protein to enhance immune response and provide longer-lasting protection, especially in infants and young children.

Provides long-lasting immune protection
Suitable for children, adolescents, and adults as per immunization guidelines
Important for travelers to high-risk regions
Nimenrix Injection is indicated for:
Active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease
Routine childhood and adolescent vaccination programs (as recommended by national guidelines)
Travelers to regions with high meningococcal prevalence (e.g., sub-Saharan Africa, Hajj pilgrimage)
Individuals at increased risk (e.g., asplenia, complement deficiency).
Administered as a single 0.5 ml intramuscular injection.
The injection is usually given in the deltoid muscle (older children and adults) or anterolateral thigh (infants).
Booster doses may be recommended depending on age and risk factors.
Should be administered by a trained healthcare professional.
Follow national immunization schedules and physician recommendations.
Nimenrix contains purified polysaccharides from meningococcal serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y conjugated to a carrier protein. The conjugation enhances the immune response by stimulating T-cell–dependent immunity, leading to the production of protective antibodies and immunological memory.
This immune response helps the body recognize and fight the bacteria if exposed in the future.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine
Severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of meningococcal vaccine
Warnings and precautions:
Vaccination should be postponed in individuals with severe acute illness and fever
Not intended to treat active meningococcal infection
As with all vaccines, appropriate medical treatment should be available in case of anaphylaxis
Common side effects may include:
Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site
Mild fever
Fatigue
Headache
