Megafil 20 mg is a selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for the management of erectile dysfunction (ED), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and patients experiencing both conditions simultaneously. By enhancing blood flow to the penis and relaxing smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder, Megafil 20 mg helps improve sexual performance, urinary flow, and overall quality of life for men with these conditions.

Drugs for Erectile Dysfunction
Megafil 20 mg is indicated for:
Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Combined Erectile Dysfunction and symptoms of BPH
Megafil 20 mg works by inhibiting PDE5, an enzyme that breaks down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in smooth muscle cells. Elevated cGMP levels lead to relaxation of smooth muscle in the corpus cavernosum, facilitating penile erection. PDE5 is also found in smooth muscles of the prostate and bladder wall; its inhibition improves urinary flow by relaxing these muscles and increasing blood circulation in the urinary tract.
Erectile Dysfunction:
Starting dose: 10 mg, 1 hour before sexual activity
Dose adjustment: may increase to 20 mg or decrease to 5 mg based on efficacy and tolerability
Maximum frequency: once daily
Effect lasts up to 36 hours
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia:
Recommended dose: 5 mg once daily at the same time each day
Combined ED and BPH:
Recommended dose: 5 mg once daily
Administration:
Swallow the tablet whole with water
Can be taken with or without food
Megafil 20 mg may interact with:
Nitrates (e.g., Nitroglycerin, Isosorbide) – risk of severe hypotension
Alpha-blockers and antihypertensives
Alcohol
CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., Ketoconazole, Ritonavir, Itraconazole)
HIV protease inhibitors
Grapefruit juice
Antacids and certain anticonvulsants (e.g., Rifampin, Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital)
Concurrent use with nitrates
Hypersensitivity to Megafil 20 mg or any excipients
Common:
Headache
Dyspepsia
Back pain, myalgia
Nasal congestion or pharyngitis
Rare but serious:
Sudden vision or hearing loss
Angina, myocardial infarction, stroke
Severe hypotension or tachycardia
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis
Changes in color vision
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, renal or hepatic impairment
Avoid concomitant use with alcohol or other PDE5 inhibitors
Monitor for hypotension when used with alpha-blockers or nitrates
Not recommended for women; pregnancy category B (use only if benefit outweighs risk)
Nursing mothers should use caution, as data on excretion in breast milk is limited
Store in a dry place, away from light and heat
Keep out of reach of children
Megafil 20 mg selectively inhibits PDE5, increasing cGMP levels in smooth muscles. This promotes relaxation of penile, prostatic, and bladder muscles, improving erection and urinary flow.
