Lefalin works by targeting bacterial protein synthesis, inhibiting bacterial growth and replication. Its unique mechanism of action reduces the likelihood of cross-resistance with other antibiotic classes, making it an important option in modern clinical practice.

Each tablet contains:
Lefamulin Acetate 600 mg
Lefamulin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by:
Binding to the peptidyl transferase center (PTC) of the bacterial ribosome
Preventing the proper assembly of bacterial proteins
Effectively halting bacterial growth and replication
This mechanism targets both typical pathogens, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, and atypical pathogens, such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, and Legionella pneumophila. Lefamulin’s selective action ensures effective treatment while minimizing the risk of resistance seen with older antibiotics.
Lefalin Tablet 600 mg is indicated for:
Community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) in adults caused by susceptible bacteria
Treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive organisms, including Streptococcus pneumoniae
Coverage for atypical pathogens contributing to respiratory infections
It is particularly suitable for patients with contraindications to macrolides or fluoroquinolones, or where there is concern about antibiotic-resistant strains.
The recommended dose for adults is 600 mg orally every 12 hours for 5 days, depending on the severity of the infection.
Tablets should be taken with or without food, swallowed whole with water.
Adherence to the full prescribed course is essential to prevent relapse and reduce the development of bacterial resistance.
Dose adjustments may be required in patients with severe liver impairment; consult a healthcare professional before use.
Broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and atypical bacteria
Rapid bacterial clearance for community-acquired pneumonia
Oral formulation allows convenient outpatient therapy
Unique mechanism reduces the risk of cross-resistance
Improves recovery, reduces symptoms, and prevents complications of bacterial pneumonia
Not recommended in severe hepatic impairment
Use with caution in patients with a history of QT prolongation or arrhythmias
Inform your doctor about other medications to prevent drug interactions, especially those affecting the heart rhythm or liver metabolism
