Intasone Injection 100 mg/2 ml contains Hydrocortisone, a synthetic corticosteroid that closely resembles the natural hormone cortisol produced by the adrenal cortex. It is used for its potent anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and immunosuppressive properties. Intasone Injection is primarily indicated in emergency and hospital settings where rapid corticosteroid action is required to manage acute and severe medical conditions.
Hydrocortisone helps restore adequate glucocorticoid levels in patients with adrenal insufficiency and is widely used in the treatment of inflammatory, allergic, autoimmune, and shock-related conditions.

Each 2 ml injection contains:
Hydrocortisone 100 mg
Intasone Injection 100 mg/2 ml is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions:
Acute adrenal insufficiency (Addisonian crisis)
Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis and angioedema
Bronchial asthma and acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Shock states (e.g., septic shock, traumatic shock) as adjunct therapy
Severe inflammatory and autoimmune disorders
Cerebral edema
Certain hematological disorders
Severe skin diseases and dermatoses
Management of stress conditions where corticosteroid therapy is indicated
Hydrocortisone is a glucocorticoid that exerts its effects by regulating gene expression involved in inflammatory and immune responses. It inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by suppressing phospholipase A₂ activity. This results in reduced inflammation, edema, capillary dilation, and immune cell migration.
Hydrocortisone also plays a key role in carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism, helps maintain blood pressure, and supports the body’s response to stress. When administered parenterally, Intasone Injection provides rapid systemic action, making it suitable for emergency use.
Intasone Injection is intended for intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) administration and should be given under medical supervision.
Adults:
The usual dose ranges from 100 mg to 500 mg depending on the severity of the condition.
In acute adrenal crisis, an initial dose of 100 mg IV may be followed by repeated doses or continuous infusion as directed by the physician.
Children:
Dosage is adjusted according to body weight and clinical condition and should be determined by a healthcare professional.
Dose tapering is recommended for prolonged therapy to avoid adrenal suppression.
Known hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone or any component of the formulation
Systemic fungal infections unless appropriate antifungal therapy is provided
Reduced effect with enzyme inducers such as phenytoin and rifampicin
Increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding with NSAIDs
Altered blood glucose levels when used with antidiabetic agents
Increased risk of hypokalemia with diuretics
Possible side effects may include:
Fluid retention and electrolyte imbalance
Increased blood pressure
Hyperglycemia
Increased susceptibility to infections
Gastrointestinal irritation with prolonged use
Hydrocortisone should be used during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly needed and when the potential benefits outweigh the possible risks, as determined by a physician.
Store below 25°C in a cool and dry place, protected from light.
