Esonix 20 mg Capsule contains Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce gastric acid secretion. It is widely prescribed for the treatment and prevention of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. By effectively suppressing stomach acid production, Esonix 20 mg helps relieve symptoms, promotes healing of damaged mucosa, and prevents recurrence of acid-induced conditions.

Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI)
Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole and works by selectively inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells. This inhibition blocks the final step of acid production, resulting in a marked and prolonged reduction of gastric acid secretion. Compared to racemic proton pump inhibitors, esomeprazole provides more consistent and effective acid control, making it suitable for both short-term treatment and maintenance therapy in acid-related disorders.
Esonix 20 mg is indicated for:
Relief of symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including persistent heartburn

Esomeprazole is metabolized mainly by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4 enzymes. It may reduce the absorption of drugs dependent on gastric pH such as ketoconazole, iron salts, and digoxin. Caution is advised with diazepam due to reduced clearance. No clinically significant interactions have been observed with amoxicillin, clarithromycin, warfarin, phenytoin, or oral contraceptives.
Known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or any component of the formulation
Commonly reported side effects include:
Headache
Diarrhea
Nausea
Flatulence
Abdominal pain
Constipation
Dry mouth
Long-term maintenance therapy shows a similar safety profile to short-term use.
Symptomatic improvement does not exclude the presence of gastric malignancy
Use caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment
Long-term therapy should be periodically reviewed
Adequate studies in pregnant women are not available
Use only if clearly needed
Breastfeeding should be discontinued if treatment is considered essential
