Betapro Tablet 5 mg contains Bisoprolol Fumarate, a highly selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker used extensively in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. This medium-strength dosage is commonly prescribed for patients who require effective and consistent control of blood pressure and heart rate. Betapro Tablet 5 mg helps reduce cardiac workload, improve heart efficiency, and lower the risk of cardiovascular complications when used as part of a long-term treatment plan.

Bisoprolol Fumarate 5 mg
Selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker (Beta-blocker)
Betapro Tablet 5 mg is indicated for the management of:
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Chronic stable angina pectoris
Chronic heart failure in stable patients (as part of combination therapy)
Control of heart rate in certain arrhythmias
Bisoprolol Fumarate works by selectively blocking beta-1 adrenergic receptors located primarily in cardiac tissue. This action results in a reduction in heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output. Consequently, blood pressure is lowered and the heart’s demand for oxygen is reduced, making it beneficial for patients with hypertension and ischemic heart disease.
Due to its high beta-1 selectivity, Bisoprolol has minimal effect on beta-2 receptors in the bronchial and vascular smooth muscles at therapeutic doses. This characteristic makes Betapro Tablet 5 mg comparatively safer for patients with mild respiratory disorders when used under medical supervision. The drug also inhibits renin release from the kidneys, which further supports its antihypertensive effect.
Betapro Tablet 5 mg is intended for oral administration.
Usually taken once daily, preferably in the morning
Can be taken with or without food
Dosage should be adjusted gradually based on clinical response
Patients should not discontinue the medication suddenly, as abrupt withdrawal may lead to worsening of heart conditions.
Betapro Tablet 5 mg is contraindicated in patients with:
Severe bradycardia
Cardiogenic shock
Marked hypotension
Second- or third-degree atrioventricular block
Acute or uncontrolled heart failure
Known hypersensitivity to Bisoprolol
Commonly reported side effects may include:
Fatigue or tiredness
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Slow heart rate
Cold extremities
Mild gastrointestinal disturbances
These side effects are generally transient and often resolve with continued therapy.
Use cautiously in patients with bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Regular monitoring of blood pressure and pulse is recommended
In diabetic patients, symptoms of hypoglycemia may be masked
Dose tapering is advised when discontinuing treatment
Betapro Tablet 5 mg should be used during pregnancy only if the expected benefit outweighs potential risks. Bisoprolol may be excreted in breast milk, so caution is advised during breastfeeding.
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Bisoprolol selectively inhibits beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart, leading to reduced heart rate, decreased myocardial contractility, and lower blood pressure, thereby enhancing overall cardiovascular performance.
