Amdocal Pro Tablet 2.5 mg + 5 mg is a combination antihypertensive therapy containing Bisoprolol Fumarate (2.5 mg) and Amlodipine Besilate (5 mg). It is designed for patients who require dual therapy to control high blood pressure or manage coronary artery disease. By combining a beta-blocker (Bisoprolol) with a calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine), Amdocal Pro provides complementary mechanisms to reduce blood pressure, improve cardiac function, and relieve angina symptoms, all in a convenient single tablet.

Amdocal Pro Tablet is indicated for:
Hypertension (high blood pressure) requiring combination therapy
Coronary artery disease (CAD), including:
Chronic stable angina
Vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina
Patients inadequately controlled with monotherapy of either Bisoprolol or Amlodipine
Combination antihypertensive therapy: Beta-blocker + Calcium-channel blocker
Bisoprolol Fumarate:
Bisoprolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It reduces heart rate, cardiac output, and myocardial oxygen demand, thereby lowering blood pressure and relieving angina. It also decreases renin release from the kidneys, contributing to long-term blood pressure control.
Amlodipine Besilate:
Amlodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. This action causes peripheral vasodilation, reduces peripheral resistance, and lowers blood pressure. In coronary arteries, amlodipine improves myocardial oxygen delivery and reduces ischemic episodes.
Combined Effect:
The combination of bisoprolol and amlodipine produces additive antihypertensive effects: Bisoprolol reduces heart rate and cardiac workload, while amlodipine decreases vascular resistance. Together, they improve blood pressure control and reduce angina without significant reflex tachycardia.
Adults:
One tablet daily, preferably at the same time each day
Dose adjustments should be made based on blood pressure, heart rate, and tolerability
Special Populations:
Elderly or fragile patients: Start at the lowest effective dose and titrate carefully
Hepatic impairment: Use with caution; titrate slowly
Renal impairment: No dose adjustment usually required, but monitor renal function
Administration should follow the guidance of a healthcare professional.
Amdocal Pro may interact with:
Other antihypertensives, including ACE inhibitors, diuretics, or alpha-blockers
Antiarrhythmic agents
Non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (e.g., verapamil, diltiazem)
CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers
Digoxin or other drugs affecting heart rate
Concomitant use may require careful monitoring or dose adjustments.
Known hypersensitivity to bisoprolol, amlodipine, or any component of the formulation
Severe bradycardia, heart block, or cardiogenic shock
Decompensated heart failure or severe hypotension
Common:
Headache
Fatigue
Dizziness
Peripheral edema (ankle swelling)
Bradycardia
Less common:
Palpitations
Nausea, flushing
Gastrointestinal discomfort
Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly
Use cautiously in patients with hepatic impairment, asthma, or diabetes
Avoid abrupt discontinuation, especially of bisoprolol, to prevent rebound angina or hypertension
Pregnancy Category C: Use only if benefits outweigh risks
Symptoms may include excessive hypotension, bradycardia, or heart block. Management includes:
Supportive cardiovascular care
Intravenous fluids, atropine for bradycardia
Vasopressors for hypotension
Activated charcoal if recently ingested
Store in a dry, cool place away from light and heat.
Keep out of reach of children.
Bisoprolol: Selective beta-1 blockade reduces heart rate, cardiac output, and myocardial oxygen demand.
Amlodipine: Calcium channel blockade causes vasodilation, reducing peripheral resistance and improving coronary blood flow.
Together, they provide effective blood pressure control and angina relief.
